Badger Gate

Date published: 30 March, 2015

Badger gates are only eligible for grant support when installed in fence-lines which are cutting across an established badger run.

You must install a self-closing, heavy timber flap-style gate with a solid timber door 40 millimetres thick, 250 millimetres high and 170 millimetres wide.

This allows badgers to continue to use the run once a fence has been erected, without allowing rabbits to pass through.

Once installed, the gate must be maintained in good working order.

This standard cost covers the cost of any necessary re-siting following monitoring of badgers' use of the gate.

We require this item to be in place, meeting minimum specifications and in good working order for a period of at least five years following the date you received your payment.

You must record the location of the gate on a map in your application.
