Farm Safety Week 2020

Yellow Wellies

This week is the 8th year the Farm Safety Foundation will bring attention to the number of serious incidents and fatal injuries in the industry and highlight ways to address this.

Rural Matters is supporting this year’s Farm Safety Week, organised by leading farming charity Farm Safety Foundation, encouraging the farming community to recognise the real dangers of working in the industry and the importance of looking after their physical and mental wellbeing each and every day, not just for Farm Safety Week.

This year, the campaign will offer a timely reminder that farmers have been recognised as key workers and play an essential role in producing food for the nation. However, agriculture still has the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK.

The campaign will offer advice and guidance to support the physical and mental wellbeing of those working and living in the farming community, especially post COVID-19. It aims to encourage those in the agricultural industry to stop and think about their safety and wellbeing and that of their families.
