Farmers and crofters to receive payments

From 24 March Financial Discipline reimbursement (FDRI) payments will reach farmers and crofters bank accounts.

Reimbursement is based on the total value of direct payments. The rate for reimbursement has been set at 1.43%, with payments averaging £395.13.

Farmers and crofters who received less than €2000 worth of direct payments were exempt from the reduction.

Payments letters are not issued for Financial Discipline reimbursement payments.

2019 Direct Payments to farmers were reduced by 1.432635% by the European Commission in order to contribute to the creation of a crisis reserve. In the event, this reserve money was not required and is now being reimbursed. Scotland’s share of the UK’s refund is 16.93% or €7m (£6.24m).

From 2020 scheme year onwards, financial discipline deductions are not applied to Direct Payments, therefore there will be no reimbursement of Financial Discipline in future years.
