Rural Payments Strategy 2022

The Rural Payments Strategy for 2022 is aiming to ensure farmers and crofters are paid as early as possible, emulating the successful timetables of the 2020 and 2021 strategies.

Setting out the strategy for payments to farmers and crofters, Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon said:

“Our farmers and crofters are vital to Scotland’s economy and we remain absolutely committed to doing everything we can to support them. This includes continuing to pay farmers and crofters at the earliest point.

“This year we will move from paying loans out in September to making advance payments in October. We know that some people do not want to take a loan and so we have made this change to automate the process and provide financial security to all farmers and crofters.

“We remain committed to delivering over 70% of payments by the end of December and over 95.24% of payments by the end of June.”
