Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme (SSBSS) 2024

The Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme (SSBSS) 2024 application window is now open, and will close on Tuesday 31 December.

If you have eligible animals, please submit your claim now. The quickest and easiest way to do so is online and will help you avoid simple errors such as claiming for an animal twice or entering an ear-tag in the wrong format.

Please note, Rural Payments and Services (RP&S) website is closed until Thursday 4 January to allow for essential maintenance to be carried out over the festive period. Paper submissions are accepted during this time, and our online option will be available from 4 January. Claims submitted from 15 January 2024 will be recorded as SSBSS 2024.

You must be registered on RP&S before applying online. For assistance with your SSBSS application, contact your local area office.

Background

This scheme is worth around £40 million to beef producers in Scotland and provides additional support to help maintain beef suckler herds at a level that sustains the commercial beef industry in the country.
