Women in Agriculture release infographic

This infographic has been produced by the Women in Agriculture Taskforce as a quick reference point for training providers and trainers to ensure agricultural training opportunities are inclusive and accessible for all.
Women are important contributors to the success of Scottish agriculture and represent an under-utilised resource.
We know access to CPD is challenging for many women living and working on Scotland’s farms, and about half of women responding to a Women in Agriculture study in 2017 indicated that current training and educational opportunities were not suited to their needs.
We are aware many women are not engaging in current training opportunities, which are perceived as orientated towards men.
It is clear that action needs to be taken to ensure women in the agriculture sector can access the training they need and want and the Taskforce is considering how it can make this happen.
Providing training to women develops the skills they can use on-farm and in the sector more broadly. It also gives them the confidence to use these skills.
The first step is to ensure the courses that already exist are accessible and inclusive for all.
There are already examples of good practice, but it is important this approach is nurtured and encouraged.
