Women in Agriculture Study

The results of the Scottish Government’s Women in Agriculture study have been announced at the 2017 Royal Highland Show by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

The study sought to investigate the role of women in farming and the agriculture sector in Scotland and was led by researchers at Newcastle University and the James Hutton Institute.

The above video, produced to coincide with the results of the study being published, picks up on some of the main themes that came out of the responses from those who took part:

  • routes into farming

  • working and balancing priorities

  • access to training

  • friends and mentors
