Purpose of this Guide
This Guide forms part of the Future Farming Investment Scheme (FFIS) 2026 Scheme Guidance.
It provides detailed information about each eligible capital investment available through FFIS 2026, including:
- what the investment is intended to achieve;
- the minimum specification it must meet;
- the Item Score;
- the Maximum Cost or Standard Cost used to calculate grant;
- any specific requirements or restrictions;
- the expected benefits of the investment; and
- other eligible investments you may wish to consider, where relevant.
You should read the information for each capital investment you intend to include in your application.
Capital investments must meet the published minimum specification and all applicable requirements set out in this Guide and the FFIS 2026 Scheme Guidance.
How to use this Guide
Eligible capital investments are grouped into categories to help you identify investments that may be suitable for your agricultural business.
Each capital investment is presented using a common format:
- About this investment – what the investment is intended to achieve.
- Suitable farm types – the types of farm and croft businesses for which the investment may be suitable.
- Item Score – the published score used to calculate your Application Score.
- Maximum Cost or Standard Cost – the cost used to calculate grant.
- Minimum specification – the minimum requirements the investment must meet to be eligible.
- Not eligible – investments not eligible
- Important information – any additional requirements, restrictions or exclusions that apply.
- Expected benefits – the benefits the investment is expected to deliver.
- Other investments you may wish to consider – other eligible investments that may complement the investment, where relevant.
You may apply for any combination of eligible capital investments that meets the needs of your agricultural business, subject to the FFIS 2026 Scheme Guidance and the maximum grant available.
