For recent changes to this guidance, please see the bottom of the page.

To be used to enable access where a path crosses a field boundary such as fences or walls. Provides a robust, accessible and easy to use self-closing gate, suitable for multi-use. A one-way opening gate is less preferable than a two-way gate, but it can be used to manage access at the roadside and/or livestock pressures.

Any land is eligible, and the gate should be on an existing, upgraded or new path.
