Post and Rail Fence

A post and rail fence is eligible where it is required to protect a veteran, established parkland tree, or a newly-planted individual tree from damage by livestock so as to meet the objectives of the Woodland Improvement Grant – Habitats and Species option.

A post and rail fence is also eligible for recreational areas if it meets the objectives of the Woodland Improvement Grant – Woods In and Around Townsoption. The location of the fence must be detailed on your application map.

Wooden post and three-rail fencing must not be less than 1.1 metres high, have rails of at least 38x87 millimetres sawn timber and posts not greater than 1.8 metres apart. All fencing materials must be new.

We require this item to be in place, meeting minimum specifications and in good order for a period of at least five years following the date you received your payment.
