Provision of Water Troughs to Replace Traditional Watering Points

There are two sizes of water trough that you can apply for:

  • 2,270 litre trough with service box and float valve
  • 680 litre trough with service box and float valve

These capital items are only eligible where the application also contains the Sustainable Management of Forests – Woodland Grazing option and the installation meets the objectives of the option as detailed in your Woodland Grazing Plan.

Your submitted application and map must clearly identify which type of water trough you are applying for and where they will be positioned.

The water trough must be a purpose-made unit constructed of galvanised steel, concrete, spray-moulded glass reinforced cement (GRC) or polyethylene and with a ball cock to regulate the water supply in accordance with local byelaws.

The trough must be permanently mounted on a suitable durable base with a stopcock to control the water supply.

We require this item to be in place, meeting minimum specifications and in good working order for a period of at least five years following the date you received your payment.
