Vehicle Barrier

Date published: 30 March, 2015

This item is for installation of a galvanised steel vehicle barrier as per the specifications below. Your Woods In and Around Towns Operational Plan map must clearly identify where the vehicle barrier will be positioned.

Accessible vehicle barrier with unbound surface gap

This must consist of a lockable metal swing barrier suitable for controlling vehicles with an accessible gap to the side to permit non-vehicle access. All steelwork, fixture and fittings to be hot-dip galvanised after fabrication. All steelwork to be powder coated with nylon modified polyester. All posts to be installed with concrete. Gate frame must be strong enough to hang without dropping.

  • barrier dimensions – 3000 millimetres wide by 1100 millimetres high.
  • gate post to be 1750 millimetres high by 100 millimetres square
  • keeper post to be 1750 millimetres by 60 millimetres by 80 millimetres
  • the minimum width of the non-vehicular access gap is 1500 millimetres

The non-vehicular access gap area should be finished with an unbound surface (whinstone / granite dust) path, with full tray excavation, or half tray and geotextiles. This surface is suited to locations where there is limited vehicle pressure and low rain drip.

Accessible vehicle barrier with semi-bound surface gap

This must consist of a lockable metal swing barrier suitable for controlling vehicles with an accessible gap to the side to permit non-vehicle access. All steelwork, fixture and fittings to be hot-dip galvanised after fabrication. All steelwork to be powder coated with nylon modified polyester. All posts to be installed with concrete. Gate frame must be strong enough to hang without dropping.

  • barrier dimensions – 3000 millimetres wide by 1100 millimetres high
  • gate post to be 1750 millimetres high by 100 millimetres square
  • keeper post to be 1750 millimetres by 60 millimetres by 80 millimetres
  • the minimum width of the non-vehicular access gap is 1500 millimetres

The non-vehicular access gap area should be finished with semi-bound surface, of recycled semi-binding materials, with full tray excavation or half tray with geotextiles. This surface is suited to locations where there is limited vehicle pressure and some rain drip.
