Private Storage Aid Scheme

1. This Private Storage Aid (PSA) is a scheme paying fixed rates of aid for the Private Storage of pigmeat, being stored in Scotland only.

2. Scheme opens on 9 November 2021 when applications can be submitted in accordance with the Scottish regulations, ‘The Private Storage Aid Scheme (Pigmeat) (Scotland) Regulations 2021’

3. Please ensure you read the guidance on PSA including the detailed PSA guidance leaflet supplied by the Scottish Government before applying.

You will need to register with the Scottish Government as a trader. Please email PSA@gov.scot explaining that you need a trader registration number.

To help us get you registered please ensure you send us the following information:

  • The name and address of your business and your contact details, phone number and email address please including what your preferred method of contact is.
  • The name and address of any others you would like to empower to act on behalf of your business.
  • Your full bank account details supplied on a business headed letter attached to the email. We will also send you a document to complete for setting you up on our system for payment.
You will then be allocated a unique trader registration number which will be needed when completing the PSA Contract form.

The storage periods will be 60, 90, 120, 150 or 180 days, with payment rates between £150 and £290 per tonne.

The PSA contract form is available on the Rural Payments and Services website. You can contact us using the details below and we will send out what you need.

Applications will be for a minimum of 15 Tonnes of product.

The products included will be

ex 0203 19 55 Bellies, with or without rind or fat (bone out)

Once we have accepted your information within the contract, we will then sign the contract between the Scottish Government and yourself. Following this you will not be able to change the storage period, without prior agreement.
