Heather Restoration - Follow-up Molinia Control

Following initial works to restore heather in areas which have become dominated by Molinia (purple moor grass) follow-up treatment may be required to tackle Molinia re-growth where it is widespread enough to threaten the re-establishment of the heather.

Follow-up control may be required in the first, second or subsequent years after the initial heather restoration work.

You can only apply for one follow-up treatment on any area.

Rough grazing land, where you have already undertaken heather restoration, is eligible.

You must combine this item with the Heather Restoration item.

  • you must destroy the re-growth of Molinia vegetation by spraying with a suitable graminicide
  • you must keep photographic evidence of the site before and after treatment as part of your claim
  • you must maintain a diary

You can claim £106.00 per hectare treated.

The inspectors will check:

  • the location and extent of the work
  • you have destroyed the re-growth of Molinia vegetation by spraying with a suitable graminicide
  • you have keep photographic evidence of the site before and after treatment as part of your claim
  • you have maintained a diary
