Conversion of Deer Fence to Stock Fence

Date published: 30 March, 2015

This is only available in black grouse and capercaillie core areas.

This item is eligible where a deer fence is required to be removed in order to achieve the objectives of habitat enhancement or management where we agree that, without the conversion to a stock fence, the deer fence will prevent you from meeting the objectives of the Woodland Creation or Woodland Improvement Grant – Habitats and Species options.

The application for this standard cost requires a supporting statement from the local capercaillie project officer or RSPB advisory officer. If there is a capercaillie / black grouse management plan for the site this should be included.

Conversion of a deer fence to a stock fence will involve complete dismantling and removal of the wires and nets on the top half of the fence to leave a stock fence with the specifications required for a stock fence or an enhanced stock fence as appropriate.

All materials should be removed from site for re-use, recycling or disposal in a suitable landfill site, one recognised by the local authority.
